Alberta Society of Gastroenterology Awards
Now Accepting Nominations for the 2025 ASG Awards
The Alberta Society of Gastroenterology (ASG) is excited to announce that nominations are now open for the 2025 ASG Awards. These awards are designed to celebrate outstanding members and recognize their significant achievements.
The awards ceremony will take place during the Saturday Night Awards Gala at the Alberta Digestive Disease Summit in 2025. An awards committee will oversee the nomination process and select the winners.
Nominating someone is easy. Simply send us an email at ASG@buksa.com with the name of the person you wish to nominate, the award category, and a brief explanation of why they deserve the award.
We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the guidelines for each award category and consider nominating a deserving individual – self-nominations are also welcome. This is a wonderful opportunity to highlight those who have made substantial contributions to the ASG community.
Deadline to submit your nomination is October 25, 2024. Winners will be notified by October 31, 2024.

ALBERTA SOCIETY OF GASTROENTEROLOGY DISTINGUISHED EDUCATOR AWARD
The Alberta Society of Gastroenterology Distinguished Educator Award is presented to one ASG member who has made an outstanding contribution to education on a local, national or international basis. Named for Dr. Richard Sherbaniuk and Dr. Noel Hershfield, leaders in the Alberta’s gastroenterology community, the Sherbaniuk / Hershfield Award for Distinguished Service is presented to one ASG member for outstanding contributions to the field of gastroenterology in Alberta.RICHARD FEDORAK LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Named for Dr. Richard Fedorak, who passed away in November 2018 while Dean of Medicine at the University of Alberta, this award recognizes an exceptional leader in the ASG community whose:- Work and involvement are widely acknowledged in the broad gastroenterology community
- Accomplishments have improved the lives of people with GI diseases
- Leadership and impact have been of importance for the ASG community
- Contributions have touched multiple domains – as scholar, educator, clinical innovator, leader
